AREI training
BA4 or BA5

Safer handling of electricity thanks to appropriate training.

Issuing a BA attestation is a major responsibility for every employer.

Training corresponding to the desired level (BA4 or BA5) is a very practical way of obtaining tangible proof that the trainee has the right skills.

This way, your company writes out the certificate with certainty.

Qualified BA4

No experience required

The employee doesn't need to have any electricity-related experience/diploma.

Working safely

Thanks to this training, your employee is sure to have the necessary insights to work safely.

Supervision required

A BA-4 employee may only work with electricity under the supervision of a BA5.

A BA4 proves that your employee has the most important basic insights.

A BA4 certificate allows your employee to:

  • Work on an electrical installation (under the supervision of BA5)
  • Carry out non-electrical work near an electrical installation (without supervision)

This training is ideal for employees who work near an electrical installation (e.g. at a yard, at a customer’s site, on the shop floor) but do not touch an electrical installation. It mainly involves imparting fundamental insights into electricity.

With a BA-5 supervisor, the BA-4 attestee may admittedly work on an installation.

The most important knowledge and core concepts for safely handling electricity and its industrial or residential applications are covered in detail.

Proficient BA5

Basic knowledge required

The employee must have at least a basic knowledge of electricity to participate.

Top for technicians

A BA5 certificate allows the employee
to work on an installation without supervision.

Ideal supervisor

Thanks to a BA5 supervisor a BA4 worker is also allowed to carry out work.

Work safely with electricity, both alone and in a team.

Thanks to a BA5 certificate, your employee may:

  • Work on an electrical installation (unsupervised)
  • Carry out non-electrical work near an electrical installation (without supervision)
  • Supervise works performed by/with BA4 employees

For a BA5 attestation, the technical aspects of electricity obviously need to be examined in more depth.

This way, your employee will be ready to work safely with electrical installations and their possible dangers, both as a supervisor and as a solo technician.

Working independently with a BA5 attestation.

According to current legislation on electricity (better known as AREI), only a person
with a valid BA5 certificate is allowed to work independently on an electrical installation.

In short, this attestation is hugely valuable for any company that wants to make versatile use of its staff: both on their own and as part of a team.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

The main difference is the amount of experience and autonomy allowed.

A BA5 attestee needs significantly more experience than a BA4 attestee.

A BA4 attestee should never work unsupervised on an electrical installation.

In short, a BA4 may only carry out non-electrical work in the vicinity of a plant without supervision.

A BA5 attestee may work alone and unsupervised, and may also supervise the electrical works of a BA4.

A BA4 attestee may work on or near an electrical installation.

Work on the installation itself may admittedly only be done under the supervision of a BA5 attestee.

For example, consider the following:

  • Painting an electrical switch room.
  • Working or cleaning near sockets and equipment.
  • Checking a switch’s bad contact (under supervision).
  • Flipping a switch in a switch box (under supervision).

A BA5 attestee has a much greater degree of autonomy.

They may work alone and unsupervised on or near an electrical installation.

A BA5 attestee may additionally supervise BA4 attestees,
allowing them to also carry out work on an electrical installation.

Some examples:

  • Checking or repairing an electrical installation at a customer’s premises without assistance from a colleague.
  • Switching electricity on or off on a construction site without supervision.
  • Performing unsupervised actions: fitting sockets, connecting machines, laying cables, etc.
  • Supervise BA4 attested persons when working on an installation – solar panels, batteries, machinery, switchgear…

If you do not have any prior knowledge, we recommend you take the BA4 course first. The BA5 course may be too difficult without prior knowledge. After all, we want to provide quality training so that the BA5 certificate is not just a piece of paper you can hang up but a guarantee that you have effective knowledge to do safe work.

Of course!

Contact us with some details (how many people and what training) and we will check if there is still enough space available on the chosen training day to train the group in question at once.

If desired, the group can also be spread over several training sessions as per your requirements.

We will be happy to prepare a quotation for training your entire team.

By organising these training courses in groups, Prevom can offer a more affordable and accessible rate.

This also saves on travel costs for you as an employer, and makes it possible to spread the training over several times so that the majority of your employees remain at work while a few are being trained.

Should you wish to organise training with a larger group on one day, you can always contact us for more information.

According to legislation, this certificate must be issued by the employer.

Unfortunately, Prevom cannot prepare and issue this certificate to an employee on your behalf.

You can always contact us for a total solution in which one of our experts will assist you with the further obligations and necessary administration involved in attesting your employees.

You can contact us by e-mail or phone for more information.

Strictly speaking, training is not a legal obligation, but Prevom strongly recommends it.

When an employer issues a certificate, this is a big responsibility.
Especially if there is an accident involving electricity.

Thanks to specialised training, as an employer, you can be sure that your employee has the necessary skills to handle electricity safely when carrying out all kinds of work on and around an installation.

Prevom operates a fair and transparent policy – so there are no hidden or additional costs.
Both professional and private customers always receive a valid VAT invoice.

A BA4 or BA5 certificate must always be issued by the employer. An external service is legally not allowed to do this.

In fact, it is the employer who certifies that the employee in question has the necessary skills.

Prevom can always assist you in dealing with the additional formalities involved in attestation.

In case of no-show or cancellation by the client, the registration fee/invoice remains due.

If you do not participate in the examination or training, you cannot obtain a certificate/attestation either. To obtain a certificate/attestation, you must of course pass the examination/internal test.

Naturally, we will try to ensure that an examination or training opportunity never has to be cancelled by Prevom. Nevertheless, should this happen due to exceptional reasons or extreme circumstances, you will be notified by telephone or email. The registration fee will be refunded in full in the event of cancellation by Prevom, without any additional compensation on top of the initial amount you paid when booking.
