Job Description

Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to make a real difference? As an Environmental Coordinator, you play a key role in making business processes more sustainable. You not only ensure that companies are up to date with applicable environmental legislation, but also support them in complying with it and proactively contribute to future-focused, sustainable initiatives. Sound like something for you? Then read on!

Your Role as Environmental Coordinator

As an Environmental Coordinator, you are the expert who helps companies work more consciously and sustainably. What exactly do you do? A lot of different things – no day is the same! Here are some of your responsibilities:

  • Environmental permits: You prepare the IIOA (impact identification and assessment) section of the environmental permit application and gather all relevant information about installations and environmentally significant activities. You ensure that the application file is complete, accurate, and compliant with legal requirements. In coordination with colleagues and external partners, you work towards a smooth and well-substantiated permit submission.
  • External environmental coordinator: As an external environmental coordinator, you guide companies in complying with environmental regulations and implementing their environmental policies. You conduct on-site visits, monitor environmental performance, and formulate concrete improvement actions. This ensures companies actively work toward greater sustainability and environmental awareness within their operations.
  • Consultancy: You provide targeted advice on environmental issues and help businesses make sustainable and legally compliant choices. Whether it’s waste management, emission reduction, or energy saving – you analyze the situation, collaborate with stakeholders, and propose practical, achievable solutions. In doing so, you support companies in their pursuit of environmentally conscious operations.
  • Environmental policy and procedures: You develop and implement an environmental policy that is fully aligned with current legislation and regulations. You support the company in drafting procedures and instructions to ensure that the policy is effectively put into practice – not just words on paper.
  • Regulatory compliance: You keep track of all relevant environmental laws and standards, ensuring your clients are always informed of the latest changes. Where necessary, you work with the company to efficiently implement new regulatory obligations.
  • Environmental risks: You identify potential environmental risks and assess their short- and long-term impacts. You propose measures to mitigate or eliminate those risks effectively.
  • Audits: You conduct internal audits within companies as part of an environmental management system, aiming for continuous improvement or optimal preparation for an external audit.
  • Reporting and documentation: You collect environmental data and prepare clear, concise reports that help companies manage their environmental administrative obligations with less burden.
  • Liaising: You are the link between companies and external parties, such as government agencies and certification bodies.

In short, a varied role in which you have a real impact and help companies become more aware and sustainable.
