To do this safely day in and day out, it is enormously valuable to invest in regular and content-rich training. In addition, it is of course a legal requirement to provide training to employees using such equipment.
This in-company course combines theory and practical training, making it ideal both as an introductory course for new operators and as a refresher course for experienced operators. Our training takes place directly in your company’s workplace, allowing your employees to learn how to operate a reach truck safely in a familiar environment.
The extensive experience of our instructors translates into numerous practical examples, enabling every participant to work safely without compromising efficiency.

- understands what a work permit is and is able to interpret and comply with its requirements correctly.
- understands load charts and is able to interpret and use them correctly.
- understands the factors that determine the load capacity and stability of a reach truck.
- has a sound understanding of the different types of pallets, storage methods, and their specific hazards.
- is familiar with the basic legislation applicable to reach truck operators, including ARAB, the Codex on Well-being at Work, liabilities, and responsibilities.
The following safety procedures are understood:
- Respecting designated travel directions.
- Slowing down before turns.
- Maintaining a safe distance between reach trucks.
- The protective function of the safety cage.
- The prohibition on carrying passengers.
- Using an appropriate travel speed.
- The procedures for connecting and disconnecting a battery at the charging station.
- The correct travel height of the reach truck forks.
- Adjusting the mast position according to the load.
The following terms are understood:
Drop height, free lift, overall collapsed height, mast types, turning radius, explosion-proof / ATEX reach truck.
Understands the pre-operation inspection:
- Hand brake and foot brake.
- Hydraulic test.
- Visual inspection of the tyres.

- demonstrates safe and appropriate driving techniques, both in forward and reverse operation.
- is able to connect and disconnect batteries safely and correctly.
- works in an organised and tidy manner.
Participants who successfully complete the training will be able to perform the following reach truck manoeuvres efficiently and safely:
- Safe and correct forward and reverse driving with the reach truck.
- Executing forward and reverse turns with the reach truck.
- Taking forward and reverse turns with the reach truck.
- Stacking goods & loading pallet racks with the reach truck in spaces with a maximum clearance of 1 meter on the turning radius.
- Estimating distance, depth, and height with the reach truck.
- Safely navigating narrow passages with the reach truck.
Since the basic training and exam take place at your company, the client is generally expected to provide the necessary equipment for the participants.
For this reach truck training course, the reach truck must be in good working condition and fully charged.
By providing this equipment yourself as the employer, there is no need to arrange for hired machinery (and the associated transport). Naturally, this brings clear practical and financial benefits.

The training lasts 1 day. There is room for a maximum of 8 experienced or 5 non-experienced participants per session.
Yes, by law, it is mandatory to complete appropriate training before operating a reach truck. This is essential to ensure workplace safety. Employers must ensure that their employees have obtained a certificate demonstrating that they are competent and qualified to operate a reach truck safely and responsibly.
Yes, there is a clear difference between the two training courses. Although both reach trucks and forklifts are used to move loads, they have different applications and operating techniques. Reach trucks are designed for narrow aisles and high racking systems, while forklifts are more versatile and can be used on various types of terrain. The courses focus on the specific operation and safety measures for each type of vehicle.
The exam has two parts: practical and theoretical.
The theoretical exam takes about 30 minutes.
The practical exam takes a minimum of 30 minutes.
Each participant who passes both exams will receive a certificate. This certificate is valid for 5 years. After this period of 5 years, it is the employer’s responsibility to schedule a new training or refresher course. After this training, the participant can be re-certified.
If a participant does not pass, we contact the person responsible at the company and, in consultation with the company, look for a solution.
You will receive a certificate of participation from Prevom. This certificate will state that you have successfully completed the training.
The legislator expects employers to ensure that employees are demonstrably trained and authorised to drive machinery. In addition, this training also provides an opportunity to sharpen your competences.
Prevom recommends a reassessment of employees’ competences within 5 years of the certificate’s issue date.
If you have lost your attestation, it is best to discuss this with your employer. They can then contact Prevom.
We charge a €30 administrative fee for issuing a new certificate.
Operating a reach truck without a certificate may result in fines or sanctions from the labour inspectorate. It also puts your own safety and that of others at risk, as you may not be familiar with the correct safety procedures. Employers are responsible for ensuring that their employees have received the appropriate training and are certified to operate a reach truck.

In the event of a no-show or cancellation by the client, the registration fee or invoice amount remains fully payable. The same applies when the customer requests a change of the appointment date within the two-week period preceding the scheduled appointment. The customer is entitled to reschedule the training once at no additional cost, provided that the request is submitted at least two weeks before the scheduled date.
If you do not participate in the examination or training, you will not be eligible to receive a certificate/attestation. To obtain a certificate/attestation, you must of course pass the examination/internal test.
We make every effort to ensure that no examination or training session is ever cancelled by Prevom. However, if cancellation becomes necessary due to exceptional reasons or extreme circumstances, you will be notified by phone or email.
In the event of a cancellation by Prevom, the registration fee will be fully refunded, without any additional compensation beyond the initial amount paid at the time of booking.
If, on the day of training, it is determined that the practice cannot be conducted safely, we reserve the right to discontinue the training without refunding the amount due.
