Working with an excavator
With this in-company training course, learn how to operate an excavator safely and responsibly.
This training course is intended for anyone who works or will be working with an excavator. No prior knowledge is required, although some experience operating the machine is an advantage. Both beginners and more experienced operators can further develop their skills during this hands-on training course, which places a strong emphasis on safety and operating proficiency.
For experienced excavator operators, we offer a one-day training course. For inexperienced operators, we provide a three-day training programme.
Duration
The training lasts from one to three days, depending on the participant’s level of experience, and is conducted on-site at your company.
Certificate of participation
After the training and internal test, we provide a participation certificate for all successful participants.
Price
€ 1295 excl. VAT (total) plus travel expenses per training day, for a maximum of 8 participants.
What is an excavator?
An excavator is a powerful machine used for earthmoving activities, such as digging trenches, foundations, or pits. Equipped with a hydraulic arm and bucket, the machine can efficiently loosen, move, and handle soil, sand, rubble, or other materials.
Excavators are available in a wide range of types and sizes, from compact mini excavators designed for precision work to large machines used in demanding construction and infrastructure projects. Thanks to their versatility, they are indispensable in the construction industry, roadworks, and landscaping projects.
During the training, you will learn how to operate an excavator safely and efficiently. Both theoretical and practical components are covered. The focus is on developing an understanding of the machine’s operation, carrying out realistic work assignments, and mastering safe working techniques.

As the training courses and the assessment take place at the customer’s premises, the customer is always expected to provide the necessary equipment and machinery.
In the case of this course, this concerns an excavator that is properly maintained and has undergone the required inspections and certifications.
This approach eliminates the need to transport equipment to the training location, avoids the requirement for a security deposit, and allows participants to learn using the specific type of excavator operated within their company.
The location for this training must always be provided by the customer.
The training lasts from one to three days, depending on the participant’s level of experience.
The one-day training course is intended for experienced excavator operators, while the three-day training programme is designed for inexperienced operators.
There is room for a maximum of 8 experienced or 5 non-experienced participants per session.
The exam has two parts: practical and theoretical.
The theoretical exam takes about 30 minutes.
The practical exam takes a minimum of 30 minutes.
Each participant who passes both exams will receive a certificate. This certificate is valid for 5 years. After this period of 5 years, it is the employer’s responsibility to schedule a new training or refresher course. After this training, the participant can be re-certified.
If a participant does not pass, we contact the person responsible at the company and, in consultation with the company, look for a solution.
You will receive a certificate of participation from Prevom. This certificate will state that you have successfully completed the training.
The legislator expects employers to ensure that employees are demonstrably trained and authorised to drive machinery. In addition, this training also provides an opportunity to sharpen your competences.
Prevom recommends a reassessment of employees’ competences within 5 years of the certificate’s issue date.
If you have lost your attestation, it is best to discuss this with your employer. They can then contact Prevom.
We charge a €30 administrative fee for issuing a new certificate.

Both professional and private customers always receive a valid VAT invoice.
In the event of a no-show or cancellation by the client, the registration fee or invoice amount remains fully payable. The same applies when the customer requests a change of the appointment date within the two-week period preceding the scheduled appointment. The customer is entitled to reschedule the training once at no additional cost, provided that the request is submitted at least two weeks before the scheduled date.
If you do not participate in the examination or training, you will not be eligible to receive a certificate/attestation. To obtain a certificate/attestation, you must of course pass the examination/internal test.
We make every effort to ensure that no examination or training session is ever cancelled by Prevom. If this should nevertheless occur due to exceptional circumstances or force majeure, we will notify you by telephone or email.
In the event of a cancellation by Prevom, the registration fee will be fully refunded, without any additional compensation beyond the initial amount paid at the time of booking.
If, on the day of training, it is determined that the practice cannot be conducted safely, we reserve the right to discontinue the training without refunding the amount due.
